SCAM TYPE: Telephone Bill Cramming Scam
"Cramming" is a technique used by criminals, fraudsters and even unscrupulous businesses to collect small amounts of money from a large number of people through unauthorized phone charges.
The practice of cramming relies on victims overlooking smaller charges on a lengthy monthly statement or bill. Cramming can be used for anything from third party telephone services to free ringtones or wallpaper for wireless phones.
If you've been crammed, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, your state attorney general or consumer protection office, the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Trade Commission.
